Some of you may have seen me yabbering on about my online book club – Poppy Loves Book Club – before… But today I bring you very big and very exciting news. I have relaunched my book club as a new lifestyle hub of community and wonder! But first, let me explain…
I started Poppy Loves Book Club some years ago, mainly out of my love for community. Bringing people together to talk and share is something that has always been enormously important to me and a virtual book club seemed like a lovely way to do this. Over the years the book club has grown from a Facebook Group community with 30 women in it, to a global community of around 40,000 women, all connecting with the book club in one way or another – either through our Facebook Group, Instagram or in real life, by joining a local Poppy Loves Book Club and meeting new local friends.
We have always read one book a month and then come together online to discuss it, often with the author, which is always exciting. However, I wanted to create more touchpoints throughout the month for women to come together and meet, grow, talk and learn together… and my brain started ticking. WHAT IF I could offer my members more? What if I could create a wonderful, safe and inclusive space where women could come together, make new friends and do MORE? Craft workshops? Yoga? Discuss books, meet authors… learn how to make sourdough crumpets?
For years these thoughts have been whizzing around my head, but life was rather getting in the way of doing anything about it – having a baby takes up some serious time! (Yes, I know you told me, but you don’t know until you know) And then moving house and getting married… and then smashing up the house (eek!) and then smashing up the bathroom….But recently, the stars aligned, and it was time. Time to really do it. And so I did.
Poppy Loves Book Club now hosts regular Coffee Mornings, Author Q&As, Literary Panels and everything from Cookalongs and Craft Workshops, Bread Making & Journaling Workshops, Life Coaching and Mindfulness Sessions to Foraging Workshops and Cocktail Making!
The book club also hosts Film Club each month, where we watch a book-to-screen adaptation and then discuss it, and a Monthly 45 min Yoga Session, with the highly respected and fabulous East London Yoga & Lifestyle studio, East of Eden.
All the events will all take place online, either in our Facebook Group or on Zoom and will be available to watch in the Members’ Hub, so if you can’t make the live event itself, you never have to miss out! Having members in multiple time zones means this bit is really important – I want the content to be available for everyone.
